Kathmandu, June 6 — Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the ongoing obstruction of the House of Representatives by the opposition parties could be lifted if there is an agreement on a credible investigation into the recent allegations of corruption.
Speaking to the media after a high-level political meeting on Thursday, Chairman Dahal emphasized the importance of restoring parliamentary proceedings to ensure democratic functioning. “If all sides agree on a credible and impartial investigation mechanism, there will be no need to continue obstructing the House,” he stated.
Opposition parties, particularly the Nepali Congress and Rastriya Swatantra Party, have been disrupting House sessions demanding an investigation into alleged misuse of power and financial irregularities involving top officials. The stalemate has delayed the passage of key bills, including those related to the budget.
Dahal said he is in favor of transparency and accountability, and stressed the need for political consensus to break the impasse. “Let the truth come out through a fair investigation,” he said, urging all parties to put national interest above political interests.
Negotiations are ongoing among party leaders to resolve the deadlock. A breakthrough is expected in the coming days if consensus can be reached on the terms of the investigation.
