Kathmandu — Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (CPN-UML) has selected 16 lawmakers under the proportional representation system following a meeting of the party’s Central Secretariat held on Sunday.
According to Deputy General Secretary Lek Raj Bhatta, the party selected Bhumi Subba, Gangadevi Shrestha, Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar, and Kulbhakta Shakya from the indigenous nationalities category.
From the Khas Arya category, the party picked Padma Aryal, Tukabhadra Hamal, Yashoda Kumari Baral, Guru Prasad Baral, and Pushparaj Kandel.
Similarly, Kriparam Rana was selected from the Tharu community, while Bishnumaya BK and Nita Ghatani were chosen from the Dalit community. From the Madhesi community, Ringla Yadav, Yashoda Kumari Yadav, and Chandreshwar Mandal were nominated. Sajida Siddiqui was selected from the Muslim community.
The meeting also expressed sorrow over the demise of Mohan Prasad Oli, father of party chairman K. P. Sharma Oli, and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
