Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
In a disturbing act of violence, unknown attackers targeted a government-run higher secondary school with a bomb early Friday morning in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to local authorities, the explosion occurred around 5:30 a.m. before school hours, preventing any casualties. The blast caused significant damage to parts of the school building, including classrooms and administrative offices. Fortunately, no staff or students were present at the time.
Police and bomb disposal units were quickly dispatched to the scene. Initial investigations suggest the use of an improvised explosive device (IED), though the motive behind the attack remains unclear. No group has claimed responsibility so far.
“This is an attack on education and the future of our children,” said a local official, vowing to bring those responsible to justice. Security has been heightened across the district, and nearby schools have been temporarily closed as a precaution.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which borders Afghanistan, has seen sporadic incidents of violence in recent years, often targeting educational institutions and security forces.
Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation, and efforts are underway to repair the damaged infrastructure and ensure the safety of students and staff.
