Kathmandu – The Axiom-4 mission, carrying four astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS), has been successfully launched after facing multiple delays due to technical issues and other challenges.
Axiom-4 is a commercial space mission operated by Houston-based company Axiom Space. This mission marks another milestone in private space travel.
According to NASA, the crew includes Shubhamshu Shukla from India, Slawoj Ajnanski Wisniewski from Poland, Tibor Kapu from Hungary, and veteran astronaut Peggy Whitson from the United States.
The astronauts are expected to stay on the ISS for two weeks, conducting various scientific experiments and commercial activities.
This mission holds special significance for India as Shubhamshu Shukla becomes one of the few Indians to travel to space. The last Indian astronaut, Rakesh Sharma, flew to space in 1984 under a Soviet mission.
Axiom Space aims to pave the way for more commercial missions and private space station modules in the future.
