Kathmandu – Relatives of Roshan Jiha, who died under suspicious circumstances, staged a protest demanding action against those responsible. The demonstration took place today (Thursday) at Janak Chowk in Janakpurdham.
Claiming that Roshan was murdered, her family members urged authorities to arrest additional individuals allegedly involved in the incident. Sarathi Jiha, Roshan’s sister-in-law, stated that they demanded the police take into custody Dr. Dhiraj Jha, and relatives of the in-laws, Sachin Jha and Pratik Jha, for investigation, citing their alleged role in destroying evidence.
Roshan Jiha, 27, was found dead at her residence in Kataiyachowri, Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City Ward No. 4, last Thursday night. While her in-laws claimed her death was a suicide, her family has maintained that it was a premeditated murder. Roshan had married Prashant Mishra four years ago in accordance with local social customs. Prashant currently works at the Policy and Planning Commission of the Madhesh Province Government.
The victim’s family filed a formal complaint against Roshan’s husband, Prashant, and her father-in-law, Rudranarayan Mishra, at the Dhanusha District Police Office. Following the complaint, the police conducted a field investigation last Sunday and temporarily detained both for questioning. However, the police released the father-in-law later that day after finding no direct involvement, according to DSP Ganesh Bahadur Bam, spokesperson for Dhanusha Police.
The Dhanusha police have stated that the investigation is ongoing, including revisiting the crime scene, collecting statements from family members, and conducting forensic analysis of the available evidence.
