Kathmandu – Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has urged the Nepal Red Cross Society to operate independently, free from political influence. During a discussion at the Ministry today, he emphasized the need to address long-standing institutional issues at the central level of the organization by adhering to legal procedures and frameworks.
Minister Aryal directed the Ad-hoc Committee to conduct elections on time to fulfill its responsibilities and to amend the organization’s constitution in accordance with federal principles. He further stressed the importance of keeping the institution free from political interference to ensure impartial and effective operations.
He also advised that the Nepal Red Cross Society should continue to work in close coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, serving as a supportive entity without deviating from its noble purpose.
The discussion was attended by key officials including Home Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha, Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Radhika Aryal, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, and senior officials from both ministries.
From the Nepal Red Cross Society, Ad-hoc Committee Chairman Vinod Kumar Sharma and General Secretary Meen Bahadur Mall were also present at the meeting.
