What Are Nepal and Other Countries Doing to Evacuate Their Citizens Trapped in the Israel-Iran Conflict?

What Are Nepal and Other Countries Doing to Evacuate Their Citizens Trapped in the Israel-Iran Conflict?

Kathmandu, June 20 – The Israel-Iran conflict, ongoing for nearly a week, has intensified, prompting various countries to launch evacuation efforts to rescue their citizens stranded in the war zones.

The Nepali Embassy in Israel has urged Nepalese nationals seeking evacuation to fill out online forms. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of Thursday evening, 485 Nepalis had applied. However, plans for their safe evacuation remain uncertain. Official records show approximately 7,000 Nepalis in Israel and 17 in Iran.

Due to closed airspaces amid the conflict, direct flights out of the region are not possible. Some countries are evacuating their nationals by land routes through neighboring Jordan, followed by airlifts.

Australia is repatriating nearly 1,500 citizens from Iran and about 1,200 from Israel. Some Australians have already left Israel, while efforts continue to bring others to safety.

China’s Foreign Ministry reports evacuating over 1,600 citizens from Iran and hundreds from Israel. It advises its nationals to leave via Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Armenia, or Iraq.

On Thursday, 110 Indian students returned from Iran. India is preparing to evacuate citizens wishing to leave Israel, where about 30,000 Indians currently reside.

Japan has deployed two military aircraft to Djibouti to assist in evacuating its nationals stranded in Iran and Israel. Approximately 1,000 Japanese nationals are in Israel and 280 in Iran.

Meanwhile, around 3,000 Pakistani nationals have left Iran so far amid the ongoing conflict.

As the situation evolves, countries are intensifying efforts to ensure the safe return of their citizens caught in the escalating war.
