Agency Report – Iran launched a military assault targeting U.S. forces stationed at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, prompting Qatar’s air defense systems to intercept multiple missiles over the capital city, Doha, on Monday.
In an official statement, Majid bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that Qatar’s defense forces had successfully neutralized the Iranian missile threat. He condemned the attack as a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, airspace, international law, and the UN Charter.
Al-Ansari emphasized that Qatar reserves the right to respond while affirming that no injuries or casualties had been reported. He added that Al Udeid Base had been preemptively evacuated and all necessary precautions were taken to ensure the safety of personnel.
He further urged an immediate end to hostilities and called for a return to dialogue and diplomacy.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the missile campaign, describing it as a “victory operation” targeting U.S. military installations in Iraq and Qatar. The IRGC stated that Iran would not leave any attack on its territorial integrity or national security unanswered, referencing recent U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites.
In the aftermath of the strike, airspace over the Gulf region was shut down. Both Qatar and the United Arab Emirates had preemptively closed their airspace prior to the attack, while Bahrain and Kuwait also announced temporary airspace closures on Monday as a precaution.
Al Udeid Air Base hosts thousands of American and allied troops and serves as a strategic hub for U.S. military operations across the Middle East.
