Kathmandu – U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran is now officially in effect. Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The ceasefire has now begun. Please do not violate it!”—his strongest public call yet for restraint from both sides.
This announcement follows a series of intense overnight exchanges. Late Monday night, Israel launched multiple missile strikes targeting Tehran. In response, Iran fired missiles into Israel early Tuesday morning, killing four people, according to Iranian officials.
Iranian state media described its attack as a “final wave of missiles” launched just before the ceasefire took effect. Israel has not officially commented on the ceasefire but has acknowledged the latest casualties.
Israeli emergency medical service Magen David Adom confirmed that four people were killed and 22 others were injured in the Iranian strike. The scale of destruction, particularly in residential areas, has yet to be fully assessed.
While Trump’s declaration signals a potential de-escalation, experts warn that the ceasefire remains fragile. With both sides having suffered losses and still trading accusations, international observers remain cautious, watching closely to see whether the truce will hold or unravel amid rising tensions.
