Parsa — A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Parsa district on charges of murdering his wife. The suspect has been identified as Safiraja Miya, a resident of Jagarnathpur Rural Municipality Ward No. 4.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kishor Lamsal, the body of 21-year-old Lalbibi Khatun was discovered late at night on Asar 7 (June 21) under suspicious circumstances. Following preliminary investigation, police suspected her husband was responsible for her death and arrested him two days ago.
DSP Lamsal stated that Lalbibi’s body has been sent to Narayani Hospital in Birgunj for a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, the district court has granted permission to keep Safiraja in custody for five days for further investigation.
Police suspect that ongoing marital disputes may have led to the incident. “They reportedly hadn’t spoken to each other for a long time,” said DSP Lamsal. “According to statements, the wife used to ignore him and behave indifferently when he returned home from work.”
Further investigation is underway.
