Belgrade – The Serbian government has announced two major grant programs worth over $110 million aimed at promoting research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and green technologies.
According to Nenad Filipović, Director of the Science Fund of Serbia, around $98.4 million will be allocated for the “AI Research Projects Program,” which will run for two years. The program will support approximately 25 to 30 projects focusing on key areas such as healthcare, biotechnology, education, agriculture, and information security. This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the European Union and the World Bank.
In addition, $11.7 million has been earmarked for the second phase of the “Green Program – Science and Industry Cooperation,” which will operate for one year. Funded through the national budget, this program aims to address environmental protection, waste and wastewater management, air and soil quality improvement, and biodiversity conservation.
Expressing her enthusiasm about the initiatives, Serbia’s Minister for Environmental Protection, Sara Pavkov, said, “I believe this Green Program will deliver essential innovative solutions for environmental transformation with tangible, practice-based results. These efforts will help us move towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.”
