Janakpur, Nepal – July 4, 2025
A violent clash broke out between armed police personnel and a group of smugglers in Baidehi Duhabi, located in Ward No. 2 of the Videha Municipality in Dhanusha district, on Thursday evening around 7 PM.
According to Armed Police Force (APF) Superintendent Nirmal Khadka, a 30-member APF team was dispatched to the area based on a tip-off that smuggled goods were being stored in a mango orchard.
Upon arrival, the police team was attacked by a group of smugglers wielding crude weapons, sticks, and stones. The sudden assault resulted in injuries to six APF personnel, who are currently receiving treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Janakpur.
To control the escalating situation, the police were compelled to fire four rounds into the air and deploy 13 rounds of tear gas.
Superintendent Khadka confirmed that the police have since brought the situation under control and are conducting further investigations into the smuggling network operating in the region.
Authorities have vowed to intensify surveillance and take strict action against those involved in cross-border smuggling and attacks on law enforcement agencies.
