In a cultural exchange initiative aimed at fostering mutual learning, 16 foreign students have arrived in Saptari district under the International Volunteer Service Program to study and experience the unique culture and lifestyle of Nepal’s Madhesh Province.
Coordinated by the organization Nepal Unites, the group includes 14 students from Taiwan, and one each from Malaysia and Vietnam, according to Mohammad Rahman, the national director of Nepal Unites. The students are all currently enrolled at National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan.
Rahman explained that the primary objective of the visit is twofold: to teach local children through innovative educational methods and sports activities, and to immerse themselves in the traditions, customs, and clothing of the Madhesi people.
“What makes this experience unique is that the students are not staying in hotels but are living with local families,” Rahman said. “They will experience the local culture firsthand as members of the household, forming close bonds and living like a family.”
The students, who arrived in Rajbiraj on Asar 17 (June 30), will remain in the region until Asar 31 (July 15). During their stay, they will not only impart their knowledge and skills to local children but also observe and learn about the local way of life, contributing to cross-cultural understanding and exchange.
The program is expected to enhance international goodwill while promoting the rich heritage of the Madhesh region to a global audience.
