Two Arrested with Narcotics, Cash, and Gold in Siraha’s Lahan Municipality

Siraha, Nepal – July 4, 2025

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, two individuals were arrested from Padariya Tole in Lahan Municipality–11, Siraha district, with a significant quantity of narcotics, cash, and gold-like jewelry.

Based on a confidential tip-off, a joint team from the District Police Office Siraha and Area Police Office Lahan conducted a raid on suspicion of illegal drug trade. During the search, police discovered what appears to be brown sugar, a form of heroin, along with cash worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, gold-like ornaments, and drug paraphernalia.

According to police, the arrestees have been identified as Mithlesh Chaudhary (28) and Raj Nandan Chaudhary (24), both residents of Lahan-11.

From Mithlesh Chaudhary’s residence, authorities recovered:

  • 113.91 grams of brown sugar (including packaging)
  • NPR 275,300
  • INR 1,250
  • A gold-like ‘tilhari’ and necklace
  • A digital weighing scale
  • A mobile phone, scissors, and other drug-related materials

From Raj Nandan Chaudhary, police recovered:

  • 10.71 grams of brown sugar (including packaging)
  • NPR 2,100
  • A mobile phone

In total, police seized 124.62 grams of suspected brown sugar (118.61 grams excluding plastic packaging) and NPR 286,710 in cash.

The District Court of Siraha has granted a 5-day remand for further investigation. Authorities have confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and under interrogation.

Police have reaffirmed their commitment to tight surveillance and continued action against drug trafficking in the region.
