Protest Erupts in Janakpurdham as National Unity Campaign Demands Withdrawal of Madrasa Education Board Bill

Protest Erupts in Janakpurdham as National Unity Campaign Demands Withdrawal of Madrasa Education Board Bill

Janakpurdham, Madhesh Province —
The National Unity Campaign staged an intense protest today in Janakpurdham, demanding the immediate withdrawal of the proposed Madrasa Education Board Bill. The demonstration escalated when campaign leaders and activists confronted Chief Minister Saroj Yadav as he approached the Provincial Assembly.

Protesters surrounded the Chief Minister’s convoy and waved black flags while chanting slogans, creating a brief moment of tension at the assembly premises. Police intervened shortly afterward to control the situation and strengthen security in the area.

Demonstrators shouted slogans such as:

  • “Cancel the Madrasa Bill!”
  • “Stop Muslim appeasement politics!”
  • “Threat to national security!”
  • “We don’t want this bill!”
  • “Abolish religious-based education!”
  • “End terrorist-linked education!”
  • “Long live National Unity Campaign!”

Some protesters also chanted “Down with Saroj Yadav!”

According to authorities, the Dhanusha Police quickly moved in to manage the crowd and tighten security around the Provincial Assembly after the situation began to intensify.

Leaders of the National Unity Campaign argued that the Madrasa Bill could endanger social harmony, national security, and the integrity of the education system in Madhesh Province. They urged the provincial government to immediately revoke the bill in the larger interest of peace and stability.
