Siraha —
Ashok Kumar Khadka, a well-known social activist from Dhangadhimai, Siraha, has voiced serious concern over what he describes as the growing psychological and social fragmentation within Nepal. According to him, the political, social, and cultural upheavals the country has experienced from 1990 (2046 BS) to 2025 (2082 BS) have gradually pushed Nepali society toward division.
Khadka argues that society is now being fragmented along several lines — sometimes in the name of political systems, sometimes caste, sometimes religion and culture, geography, and now even generational labels.
“We are breaking apart into groups based on ideology, caste, religion, culture, Madhesi–Pahadi identity, provincial boundaries, and even terms like Gen X and Gen Z,” Khadka said. “If this trend continues, no one will be able to move the country forward.”
Call for Unity
Khadka emphasized that the most urgent need today is unity and mutual cooperation.
“If we fail to unite like threads woven together, we and our future generations will be forced to sweat as laborers for others. The country itself may end up becoming dependent,” he warned.
A respected figure in social service, Khadka has long been working to support the underprivileged, persons with disabilities, students, farmers, and youth. His years of dedication have made his voice credible and influential among the public.
“Nation-building is not a heavy burden carried by a few,” he said. “Living with unity, avoiding division, accepting differences, and placing the country as the top priority — these habits form the strongest foundation for a prosperous Nepal.”
Khadka’s remarks come at a time when many are concerned about growing polarization across Nepali society. His message has particularly resonated with the younger generation, who view it as a reminder to bind the nation together through collective responsibility.
His statement is not just a warning — it reflects the pain, patriotism, and sincere concern of a responsible citizen who wants to see Nepal united and strong.
