Kathmandu/Jhapa: KP Sharma Oli, chairperson of the Nepali Congress, has urged voters in Jhapa-5 to support his party in the upcoming elections, pledging to protect national sovereignty, strengthen democracy, and accelerate development projects.
Through the manifesto released on Saturday, Oli promised to end foreign interference, restore citizens’ lost rights, and boost public morale by eliminating the climate of fear and frustration seen in recent years.
The manifesto outlines commitments to combat corruption, strengthen peace and security, create employment opportunities, and empower youth through technical education and skill-based training for self-employment. Plans also include reviving the sluggish economy, developing agriculture to achieve food self-sufficiency, and expanding industrial production to increase jobs and outputs.
Key infrastructure commitments include completing ongoing projects such as the East-West Asian Highway, Mid-Hill Highway, Madan Bhandari Highway, Hulaki Road, Damak–Ravi–Chisapani Road, and advancing the Nepal–China Friendship Industrial Park.
For local development in Jhapa-5, the manifesto highlights operationalizing the Damak Business Tower, modernizing local markets, constructing river embankments, distributing land ownership certificates to landless and informal settlers, promoting agricultural produce marketing, and developing municipalities following the Smart City concept.
Health initiatives include strengthening health insurance services, upgrading Damak Hospital to a provincial-level hospital, expanding services in local hospitals, and enhancing facilities with specialized care at Aamda Hospital.
In education, the manifesto proposes replacing dilapidated community school buildings with child-friendly structures, providing subject-specific teacher allocations, and promoting quality education through coordination between community and private schools.
Other programs include expanding the Ayurvedic hospital, developing tourist wetlands, constructing sports infrastructure, and promoting income-generating agriculture through tree planting.
Oli emphasized that his party will prioritize development, good governance, employment, education, health, and the protection of national pride, appealing to voters to cast their ballots for the Sun.
