Kathmandu. A military helicopter crashed Tuesday in a fruit and vegetable market in Isfahan Province, killing four people, including the pilot and co-pilot, according to Iranian state media.
Officials said the helicopter was on a training mission when it went down. Witnesses reported thick smoke rising from the market area shortly after the crash, with debris scattered across the surrounding site.
The Fars News Agency reported that two civilians present in the market were also killed in the incident.
The accident marks the second military aviation crash in Iran within a week. Earlier, near the western city of Hamadan, an F-4 fighter jet crashed, resulting in the death of one pilot.
Iran’s military and commercial aircraft fleets are widely considered aging. Analysts have long noted that Western sanctions have limited access to spare parts, creating challenges for maintenance and operational safety.
