June 7, 2025 — Muslims across the country are celebrating Bakr Eid (Eid al-Adha) today with great religious fervor, devotion, and a spirit of sacrifice.
The day began with special Eid prayers offered in mosques, open fields, and Eidgahs across cities and villages. Worshippers gathered early in the morning to offer congregational prayers, followed by sermons highlighting the importance of faith, sacrifice, and compassion in Islam.
Following the prayers, the traditional ritual of animal sacrifice began, commemorating the Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. People are sacrificing goats, cows, buffaloes, and camels, and the meat is being distributed among family, friends, and those in need.
In major cities, municipal authorities have set up designated areas for animal slaughter to maintain cleanliness and public health. Emergency services and waste management teams are on high alert to ensure smooth and hygienic celebrations.
Markets and shopping centers witnessed heavy crowds in the days leading up to the festival, with people purchasing sacrificial animals, clothing, and festive food items. This year’s Eid has also seen increased digital transactions for qurbani (sacrifice) services due to growing convenience and awareness.
Leaders from across the political spectrum extended Eid greetings to the nation, urging unity, peace, and empathy toward the less fortunate. In his message, the President said, “Bakr Eid reminds us of the value of sacrifice and the importance of sharing our blessings with others.”
As families come together to celebrate, cook festive meals, and visit relatives, security forces are on duty nationwide to ensure safe and peaceful observance of the festival.
Bakr Eid, one of the holiest Islamic festivals, continues to bring communities together in faith and fellowship across the country.
