Kathmandu/New York – Former U.S. President Donald Trump has entered the tech world with the launch of his own smartphone brand and mobile network service. On June 16, the Trump Organization unveiled “Trump Mobile,” a new telecommunications venture headquartered in Trump Tower, New York, according to a Reuters report.
As part of this initiative, the company has launched the T1, a 5G smartphone priced at $499 USD (approximately NPR 68,600). The device, which is claimed to be fully made in the USA, can be pre-booked through the official website for $100. Sales will begin in September, aligning with the launch of Trump’s proprietary mobile network.
The network will debut with a monthly subscription plan called “The 47 Plan”, priced at $47.45 (roughly NPR 6,500). The plan includes unlimited calling, telemedicine access, and roadside assistance services.
Trump’s move comes amid his ongoing criticism of Apple. Recently, he threatened a 25% tariff on iPhones made in India or outside the U.S., even as Apple continues expanding its production in India. With Trump Mobile, the former president now appears ready to directly compete with Apple.
While the “Made in USA” appeal and lower pricing may boost the brand’s popularity, especially among Trump supporters, experts suggest that quality, performance, and long-term software support will be crucial to seriously rival Apple in the competitive smartphone market.
According to the Trump Organization, all phones and call centers will be based in the United States. The business is being managed by Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
