Coordination Among All Tiers of Government Essential for Development: Madhesh CM

Mahendranagar (Dhanusha) – Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh emphasized that without coordination and cooperation among the federal, provincial, and local governments, the country’s development is not possible.

Speaking at an interaction program titled “Issues of Inter-Governmental Relations” organized today by the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Janakpurdham, CM Singh pointed out that a lack of effective coordination among the three levels of government has led to confusion and inefficiency in performance.

He stated that due to the absence of mutual cooperation, citizen-focused service delivery has been hampered, which in turn is increasing public dissatisfaction and disillusionment with the current governance system. Singh stressed that without joint efforts, achieving tangible results in areas such as infrastructure development, employment, education, and tourism promotion is unlikely.

Highlighting the constitutional and legal rights vested in each level of government, the Chief Minister said that working within their respective jurisdictions can help address existing national problems. He further noted that when the work of the federal, provincial, and local governments is tangibly felt by the citizens, the country can progress toward economic prosperity.

Speaker of the Madhesh Province Assembly, Ram Chandra Mandal, also spoke at the event. He termed the current democratic system as exemplary and called for collective efforts to meet the public’s aspirations. He noted that frequent disputes over jurisdictional authority have slowed down the pace of development.

Madhesh Province Minister for Forests and Environment, Sanjay Kumar Yadav, highlighted that inter-governmental coordination is crucial for the success of federalism. He emphasized the need for the federal and provincial governments to focus on policy-level leadership while the local governments should prioritize implementation. “If policy clarity comes from the top and implementation is ensured at the grassroots, the country will move toward prosperity, showcasing the true essence of federalism,” he said.

Other speakers at the interaction, including former Vice Chairperson of the Provincial Planning Commission Dr. Bhogendra Jha, also shared their views on inter-governmental relations. The event saw the participation of local government leaders, provincial ministers, and various public representatives.
