Dhanusha – Three flyovers are being constructed along the Janakpur–Dhalkeber six-lane highway, the main entry route to Madhesh Province’s capital, Janakpurdham, to manage heavy pedestrian traffic, vehicle movement, and reduce accidents, officials from the Road Division Office said.
According to the office, the three flyovers are being built at high-traffic and high-risk locations with a total estimated cost of NPR 105 million. Engineer E. Ujjwal Jha said the bridges are being constructed at Laxminiya Bazaar in Laxminiya Rural Municipality, Mahendranagar Bazaar’s Women Development Chowk in Ksheereshwarnath Municipality, and Sakhuwa Chowk.
He added, “For the past month, pillars and necessary foundational structures have been under construction at all three sites. Work is progressing to complete the project within the scheduled timeframe.”
The cost of construction for the Laxminiya Bazaar flyover is NPR 34.2 million, Women Development Chowk flyover NPR 33.5 million, and Sakhuwa Chowk flyover NPR 34.5 million. All flyovers will be 5.6 meters high, 29.4 meters long, and 3 meters wide.
Superintendent of Police Surya Bahadur Shahi of the District Traffic Police Office stated that the flyovers will help improve traffic management along the busy Janakpur–Dhalkeber road, which witnesses thousands of pedestrians and vehicles daily, increasing accident risk.
Suresh Yadav, President of Ksheereshwarnath Chamber of Commerce, said the flyovers will reduce accidents for both religious tourists and locals. Resident Rohitraj Khanal noted that the flyovers will also aid in traffic regulation and enhance urban aesthetics along this highly congested corridor.
The Road Division Office aims to complete all three flyovers within the current fiscal year.
