Kathmandu —
In Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima province, a construction crane collapsed onto a moving express train, resulting in the deaths of 22 people and injuries to 55 others.
Rescue teams are still working to free passengers trapped under the debris. Meanwhile, authorities have launched an investigation into why the crane fell.
Officials from the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and the Department of Rail Transport have been dispatched to Ban Thanon Kot village in Si Khiu district to examine the accident site.
The crane was part of a high-speed rail construction project and collapsed onto the tracks just as the Bangkok–Ubon Ratchathani special express train was passing. The train collided with the crane around 9:45 a.m., causing it to derail and crash.
