Kailali – The District Administration Office Kailali has decided to close the main border checkpoints connected to India for three days in view of the upcoming parliamentary election.
The decision has been taken to ensure a free, fair, and fear-free environment for the House of Representatives member election scheduled for Falgun 21. According to the administration, the border points will remain closed from 12:00 midnight on Falgun 18 until 12:00 midnight on Falgun 21.
The administration stated that from 12:00 midnight on Falgun 20 until the completion of voting, only vehicles providing essential services will be allowed to operate. These include ambulances, water tankers, fire engines, telecommunications service vehicles, hearse vans, hospital service vehicles, electricity service vehicles, and vehicles belonging to diplomatic missions.
Authorities said the temporary closure is part of heightened security measures aimed at maintaining law and order during the election period.
