Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a two-week deadline for Iran to decide whether it will agree to a nuclear deal, amid growing hostilities between Iran and Israel.
Speaking on Friday, Trump stated, “We will talk to Iran and make a decision on what action to take. It’s too early to say what exactly the U.S. will do regarding Iran.” His remarks come in response to the ongoing Israeli military campaign against Iran, which began on June 13.
President Trump emphasized that Tehran would have to decide—within the two-week window—whether it wants to pursue nuclear weapons or engage in diplomacy. “Iran doesn’t want to talk to Europe, it wants to talk to the United States,” he asserted.
While Israel has continued its aerial attacks on Iranian facilities, rejecting calls to halt its offensive, Trump has signaled potential support for a ceasefire under the right conditions. “Two weeks is a suitable amount of time to see if the Iranians come to their senses,” he added.
The announcement has drawn global attention, as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, with world powers closely monitoring the possibility of a broader regional conflict.
