Russian Airstrikes Damage Ukrainian Hospitals and Civilian Settlements

Russian Airstrikes Damage Ukrainian Hospitals and Civilian Settlements

Kyiv, June 10, 2025 — A new wave of Russian airstrikes has caused significant damage to hospitals and civilian settlements across multiple regions in Ukraine, intensifying the already dire humanitarian crisis and drawing sharp condemnation from Ukrainian officials and international observers.

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the attacks took place late Monday night and into Tuesday morning, targeting infrastructure in the Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia regions. At least three hospitals were reportedly hit, including a children’s medical facility in Kharkiv, where emergency crews are still working to rescue people trapped under debris.

“These were not military targets. Russia deliberately bombed facilities that provide life-saving care to innocent civilians,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a national address. He described the strikes as “acts of terror” and called on the international community to respond with stronger sanctions and military support.

Local officials have confirmed multiple civilian casualties and extensive damage to residential buildings, schools, and clinics. Footage from the ground shows scenes of devastation — collapsed walls, scorched equipment, and injured patients being evacuated on stretchers.

The Russian government has not officially commented on the strikes, but in the past, Moscow has denied targeting civilian infrastructure, claiming its military operations are focused on “strategic objectives.”

International reactions have been swift. The United Nations condemned the strikes as a violation of international humanitarian law, while the European Union and NATO leaders issued statements calling the attacks “barbaric” and reiterating their support for Ukraine.

Humanitarian organizations are scrambling to deliver aid to the affected regions, but access remains difficult due to ongoing shelling and damaged roads. The World Health Organization has warned of a growing medical emergency, as hospitals struggle with shortages of supplies and personnel.

As the war enters another brutal phase, Ukraine continues to call for more advanced air defense systems and long-range weapons to protect its civilian population from further aerial attacks.
