June 11 – United States – Protests have erupted across at least 12 states in the United States, escalating tensions and leading to widespread unrest. The demonstrations, sparked by ongoing social and political grievances, have resulted in the deaths of two individuals and the arrest of more than 1,100 people nationwide.
The protests, which began peacefully in some cities, quickly turned violent in others, with reports of clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement. Authorities in several states have imposed curfews and deployed additional police and National Guard units to restore order.
In cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta, protesters took to the streets demanding justice, accountability, and policy reforms. However, some gatherings devolved into confrontations, with incidents of property damage, looting, and use of force by security personnel.
Local officials have urged for calm while acknowledging the right to protest. “We understand the anger and frustration, but violence will not lead to solutions. We are committed to listening and working toward meaningful change,” said a mayor from one of the affected cities.
Human rights organizations and civil society groups have called for restraint on both sides, while emphasizing the importance of addressing the underlying causes of the unrest.
The situation remains tense, with authorities closely monitoring developments as the protests continue to spread.
