Siraha : The Madhesh Province government has announced plans to initiate its inter-provincial road expansion project from Lahan Municipality. The declaration was made by Madhesh Province Finance Minister Sunil Kumar Yadav during the inauguration of the 16th municipal assembly of Lahan on Friday.
Minister Yadav stated that the province would prioritize the construction of a road linking the religious and tourist site Kabre Mahadev in northern Lahan with Udayapur district in Koshi Province. “The main goal is to facilitate inter-provincial transportation to promote trade and boost tourism,” Yadav emphasized.
He further noted that improved road infrastructure would significantly contribute to strengthening the province’s economy. “The road will not only promote religious tourism but also help local products reach broader markets,” he added.
Minister Yadav also praised the budget presented by Lahan Municipality for the fiscal year 2082/83, highlighting the municipality’s focus on education, health, agriculture, and tourism. He assured that the provincial government would support the implementation of these initiatives.
Addressing concerns over the exclusion of budget allocation for the reoperation of Lahan’s Khutti Canal, Yadav clarified that alternative funding arrangements would be made. “The demands of the farmers will not be ignored,” he said.
Lahan Municipality, the largest in the district with 24 wards, has unveiled a budget of NPR 1.67 billion (Rs 1,67,95,28,000) for the fiscal year 2082/83.
