Nepal Government Prioritizes Domestic Employment as Economic Backbone: Minister Bhandari

Kathmandu: Nepal’s Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Sharad Singh Bhandari, has emphasized that the Government of Nepal has placed domestic employment at the center of the country’s core economic activities.

Speaking at a national award and recognition program organized by the Ministry on Tuesday, Minister Bhandari stated that the government is actively working to promote internal employment and reduce the compulsion for foreign employment.

“The Government of Nepal considers internal employment as the foundation of our country’s main economic activities. We are committed to ending the compulsion of foreign employment by boosting domestic job opportunities,” he said.

Minister Bhandari also announced that the government has designated the coming decade as the “Decade of Promoting Internal Employment.”

“We have officially decided to observe the upcoming decade as the ‘Decade of Internal Employment Promotion.’ For this, we have established a dedicated Internal Employment Division within the Ministry,” he added.

During the event, the Ministry honored entrepreneurs who returned from foreign employment and successfully established businesses within Nepal.

Rabin Pokharel from Jhapa was honored with the National Award for Outstanding Entrepreneur. Similarly, Rajiv Khadka from Urlabari, Morang, received the National Entrepreneur Award.

Other awardees included Shankar Simkhada from Bara, Kumar Shrestha from Dolakha, Basanta Bahadur Khadka from Tanahun, Shobhakar Paudel from Arghakhanchi, and Laxmi Prasad Dhakal from Surkhet.

The event highlighted the government’s commitment to encouraging returnee migrants to contribute to Nepal’s economy through entrepreneurship and domestic employment generation.
