KATHMANDU: Former independent lawmaker Amresh Kumar Singh has claimed that Rabi Lamichhane of the National Independent Party (RSP) is the hero of the nation, while Balendra Shah (Balen) is its “great hero.”
Speaking after joining the RSP on Monday, Singh said the country is currently dominated by Balen’s influence and argued that making Shah the prime minister would help realize the dreams of martyrs and secure the future of Madhesh’s children.
“If we make Balen Shah the prime minister, we can fulfill the dreams of the martyrs and shape the future of Madhesh’s sons and daughters,” Singh said. “That is why it is necessary to ensure Balen’s victory. In the presence of all the martyrs of the Gen Z movement, I want to declare that the country has become ‘Balen-may.’ The hero of this nation is RSP’s Rabi Lamichhane, but the great hero is Balen Shah.”
Singh further asserted that Balen Shah would be the next prime minister and made a dramatic declaration that if Shah failed to assume the post, he would commit self-immolation in Janakpur.
“We are the descendants of Sita Mata,” Singh said. “If Balen does not become prime minister, I will self-immolate in the battleground of Janakpur.”
His remarks have sparked strong reactions, coming amid growing political mobilization around the RSP and Balen Shah’s rising national profile.
