Janakpur:
The Madhesh Provincial Government has announced a public holiday in the province on Magh 18 in observance of Ravidas Jayanti.
According to a notice issued on Tuesday by Radheshankar Prasad Pal, spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Communication and Law, the decision was made in line with a Cabinet meeting held on Mangsir 16.
The notice states that the public holiday has been declared to honor the Dalit and marginalized communities living in the province, who observe Ravidas Jayanti (Magh Purnima) with special devotion and reverence. Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated across Madhesh Province as well as in other parts of the country.
The provincial government said the move reflects its commitment to recognizing and respecting the cultural and religious significance of the occasion for these communities.
