Oslo, Norway – Marius Borg Hoiby, the son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon, has been arrested just days before his trial for a rape case was set to begin. The Oslo police confirmed his arrest on Sunday evening, charging him with assault, threatening with a knife, and violating a court order.
Hoiby’s arrest comes only two days before the scheduled hearing of his rape case, adding another layer to the legal troubles surrounding him. The 38 charges against him include rape, domestic violence against an ex-partner, and filming multiple women without their consent or knowledge.
Hoiby was previously arrested on August 4, 2024, on charges of assaulting his girlfriend, and since then, the police have been investigating the matter. The arrest comes at a time when Hoiby is facing a high-profile trial for the more serious accusations.
Marius Borg Hoiby was born out of a relationship between Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon prior to their marriage. This arrest and the ongoing legal issues have put the royal family in an uncomfortable spotlight, as public interest in the case grows.
Hoiby’s legal problems reflect the increasing scrutiny of his personal life, with his family attempting to navigate the public and media attention while dealing with serious criminal charges.
