Kathmandu: After personally visiting the Himalayan regions, Prime Minister Sushila Karki has confirmed that elections will be held on February 21 even in high-altitude districts. The Prime Minister reached the Everest region of Solukhumbu today.
During discussions with stakeholders in Namche and Salleri, Solukhumbu, PM Karki received briefings on election preparations. Following these consultations, she assured that the conditions in the Himalayan districts are suitable for holding polls as scheduled.
Speaking to the media after meeting officials at the District Coordination Committee office, the Prime Minister emphasized that after reviewing the situation with local authorities and stakeholders, conducting elections on February 21 in the mountainous areas is feasible.
Officials who briefed the Prime Minister included Krishna Prasad Niraula, Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Chief District Officer Leela KC Pandey, Chief Election Officer Chandrakumar Pokharel, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Manojit Kunwar, among others.
