Kathmandu: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), has stated that he has arrived in Rukum to contest the election for the last time.
Speaking at a program organized in Khabangbagar of Bhume Rural Municipality in Eastern Rukum on Friday to mark the 30th ‘People’s War’ Day, he said he was contesting the election from this constituency to honor the contribution and sacrifice of Eastern Rukum in the fight for change and to express gratitude to the people of Rukum.
Dahal, who is a candidate from Eastern Rukum for the upcoming House of Representatives election, also expressed happiness that he has come to Rukum to celebrate ‘People’s War’ Day for the first time since the peace agreement. “Eastern Rukum is not only the birthplace of the revolution but also the place where the decision for the peace process was made,” he said. “It was from this very land that we first declared the revolution, and from Chunbang here, the decision to move towards a republic was made. Therefore, this district is a place that makes history.”
Expressing that he was somewhat emotional but also very responsible and proud to have come to Rukum on this occasion, Dahal also expressed his commitment that he and his party will carry out various works for the development and prosperity of Eastern Rukum. He also stated that if his party gets to run the government for the next five years, it will put the country on the path to development.
