Kathmandu: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa, Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma, and former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba held a meeting on Tuesday.
The meeting took place at Deuba’s residence in Maharajgunj. Party General Secretary Gururaj Ghimire said the discussion was a courtesy call, during which the leaders talked about strengthening the party.
According to Ghimire, the meeting also included discussions on resolving the Nepali Congress’s internal disputes.
Following the Election Commission’s decision to grant legitimacy to the faction that organized the Special General Convention, leaders close to Deuba have decided to seek legal recourse. However, with the deadline for filing candidacies under the first-past-the-post system set for Magh 6, time constraints have prompted President Thapa to take the initiative to keep the party united, party sources said.
