Barcelona, June 14 — In a major infrastructure boost, the Port of Barcelona is undergoing a $75 million upgrade to transform into a state-of-the-art logistics hub, aiming to streamline operations for Chinese automotive and shipping companies in Europe.
The upgrade includes the development of a modern EV terminal and improved connectivity through sea, rail, and road networks. Once completed by 2027, the port is expected to strengthen Barcelona’s position as a key automotive and cargo gateway to Southern and Central Europe.
Officials say the project will significantly enhance the port’s capacity to handle millions of tons of cargo and accommodate large cruise passenger traffic annually, reinforcing its status as one of Europe’s most vital maritime entry points.
