Kathmandu – Residents of Tehran, the capital of Iran, continue to leave the city as uncertainty and tension grip the nation. According to The Times of Israel, Tehran’s historic Grand Bazaar has been closed, and the city’s urban areas appear deserted — a scene reminiscent only of previous anti-government protests or the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the eerie calm in the city center, roads leading out of Tehran are heavily congested, with reports of long traffic jams. Many citizens are reportedly heading toward the Caspian Sea region, seeking temporary refuge from the rising tension.
Petrol stations across Tehran are witnessing long queues, further indicating the public’s anxiety. However, Iranian authorities maintain that the situation is under control and are urging calm.
The current movement comes amid growing regional instability, although the government has yet to officially acknowledge any specific threat triggering the exodus.
