Janakpur. Ramashish Yadav, a Madhesh Province Assembly member from Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, has sharply criticized the newly announced provincial budget, calling it “imbalanced and directionless.” He claimed that the budget presented by the Janamat-led government lacks innovation and fails to address the actual needs of the people.
Commenting on the recent budget statement, MP Yadav said, “This budget leads to no destination.” He pointed out glaring inconsistencies between the government’s policy document and the budget speech. “While the policy emphasized agriculture and education as priorities, the budget puts agriculture at the bottom of the list,” he said.
According to the budget, NPR 2.83 billion has been allocated to agriculture, while nearly NPR 16 billion has been earmarked for physical infrastructure development. Yadav stated that this disparity reflects a lack of coherence and serious intent. “The slogans in the policy document are not supported by the budget allocations,” he added.
Yadav also accused the current provincial government of misleading the people of Madhesh. He claimed the budget is overly focused on “concrete-based development” and neglects crucial sectors like agriculture and education. “Had the budget genuinely prioritized these sectors, it would have been hopeful,” he said.
He expressed disappointment that landmark programs such as Beti Bachau, Beti Padhau and Kishori Bima—once considered pride projects of the province—have been ignored. Yadav also criticized the budget for lacking any innovation. “Instead of increasing capital expenditure by minimizing administrative and financial management costs, the government has done the opposite, proving its failure,” he remarked.
The MP concluded by asserting that this budget, in its current form, would not bring welfare to Madhesh under any circumstance.
