Kathmandu – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that radiation levels near the three Iranian nuclear facilities targeted by recent U.S. airstrikes — including the Fordow site — have not increased.
In a statement posted on X, the IAEA wrote, “Following the attacks near three Iranian nuclear sites, including Fordow, there have been no reports indicating elevated radiation levels in surrounding areas.”
The agency further stated that it is continuing to gather information and will provide additional updates as more data becomes available regarding the situation in Iran.
Earlier, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) had condemned the U.S. strikes on its nuclear sites, calling the attacks a “barbaric act” and urging the international community to condemn the aggression and support Iran’s position.
The AEOI accused the United States of targeting peaceful nuclear facilities and called on global institutions and governments to take a stand against what it described as a serious violation of international norms.
As international tensions escalate following the strikes, the IAEA’s confirmation of no immediate radiation threat may offer temporary reassurance — though concerns over broader regional instability remain high.
