Kathmandu – Israel has launched attacks on Tehran, accusing Iran of violating the recently declared ceasefire. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Katz stated that he ordered the Israeli military to “respond forcefully with intense strikes against government targets in the heart of Tehran” to punish Iran for breaching the ceasefire.
According to Katz, Iran fired two ballistic missiles at Israel shortly after the ceasefire began, both of which were successfully intercepted. An Israeli official confirmed that the missile launches marked a clear ceasefire violation and vowed, “Iran has broken the ceasefire and will pay the price.”
The ceasefire, brokered by the United States and Qatar, had raised hopes of de-escalation between the two longstanding adversaries. Following the missile attacks, Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement reaffirming that any violation of the ceasefire would be met with a strong and decisive response.
Meanwhile, Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, denied reports that Iran had launched missiles into Israel after the ceasefire took effect, calling such claims “false.”
As tensions continue to flare despite the ceasefire agreement, the risk of renewed large-scale conflict remains high, with both sides accusing each other of provocations.
