Lalitpur — The Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN), in collaboration with Lalitpur Metropolitan City, is set to organize a special handicraft exhibition to promote art and culture on the occasion of the Art and Cultural Festival 2082.
The exhibition will take place from December 2 to December 6 (Mangsir 17–21) at Patan Durbar Square and the Patan Museum premises.
Jointly organized by FHAN, the Handicraft and Tourism Development Committee of Lalitpur–16, and Patan Museum, the event will feature 21 canopies and 10 table stalls, showcasing diverse forms of Nepali handicrafts that represent the country’s rich artistic heritage.
Additionally, the Handicraft Promotion Committee of Lalitpur–16 will present Buddhist ceremonial jewelry used in the Ten Rituals, ethnic costumes, while the local cultural committee will showcase classical music, Charya dance, Astamatrika dance, Kartik dance, folk dances, and traditional Newari musical performances including Dhaa Baja and Damokhi Baja, along with Nepal Bhasa folk songs.
FHAN has also announced a special mask exhibition in collaboration with the Korea-based IMECO, where 60 masks from Nepal and 40 masks from South Korea will be displayed.
The exhibition will run daily from 10 AM to 7 PM, with three stalls offering traditional Newari cuisine for visitors.
The opening ceremony will be held on December 2 (Mangsir 17) at 1 PM at Kartik Dabali, Patan Durbar Square, and will be inaugurated by Bindu Shrestha, Minister for Industry, Commerce, Land, and Administration of Bagmati Province.
FHAN has stated that the exhibition will be free and open to the public.
Recognized as the “City of Arts” by the World Craft Council, Patan Durbar Square is expected to host a vibrant event that will significantly promote local handicrafts, cultural identity, and tourism in the region.
