Ahmedabad, June 14 — A day after a tragic plane crash near Ahmedabad airport, Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Friday recovered a digital video recorder (DVR) from the debris of the downed Air India aircraft.
The recovery of the DVR is expected to be a crucial step in the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash, which claimed several lives and has raised serious concerns about air safety. Officials say the DVR may contain vital data from the plane’s surveillance systems, potentially shedding light on the moments leading up to the crash.
ATS officials, who have joined the probe amid speculation about possible sabotage or security lapses, are closely examining the recovered device. “The DVR has been sent for forensic analysis. It could help us understand whether any foul play or technical failure was involved,” an ATS official stated.
Meanwhile, Air India and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) continue their parallel investigations. The black box and cockpit voice recorder have also been located and are being analyzed by aviation experts.
The crash, which occurred shortly after takeoff, has left the nation in shock and mourning. Rescue operations concluded late Thursday evening, with authorities confirming the identities of all victims.
Further details are expected as forensic teams examine the data extracted from the DVR and other flight recording devices.
