Janakpur: The Madhesh Province Government has formed a high-level committee under the leadership of Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh to address issues related to the industrial and business sectors, ensure legal reforms, and strengthen coordination with the private sector.
The committee has been formed in accordance with Schedule 2 of the Provincial Government’s Business Allocation Rules, 2079 BS. It will be responsible for modernizing the industrial sector of Madhesh, developing policy frameworks in collaboration with the private sector, and resolving legal complexities that hinder business growth.
The committee ensures participation from both policy-making and implementation levels, with representatives from various ministries, government agencies, and the private sector. Besides Chief Minister Singh as the coordinator, the committee includes the Province Finance Minister, Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Tourism, Chief Secretary of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Vice-Chairperson of the Policy and Planning Commission, and Secretaries from concerned ministries.
From the private sector, key members include Ashok Temani, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Madhesh Province, former President Ganesh Lath, Hariprasad Gautam, President of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, FNCCI Vice President Jitendra Mahaseth, Hiralal Gautam, President of the Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association, Pramod Shah, President of CNI Madhesh Province, and Sudhir Agrawal, representative from the Commodity Association.
The committee will be supported by a member-secretary, an officer-level official designated by the Chief Secretary of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers.
The provincial government expects the committee to propose practical action plans and recommendations for the long-term reform of the industrial and trade sectors. The government has expressed its commitment to institutionalizing private sector partnership and creating an investment-friendly environment in Madhesh Province.
