Kathmandu: US President Donald Trump has stated that Iran needs to sell oil to recover from its post-war economic losses. Speaking at the NATO summit held in the Netherlands on Wednesday, Trump said the US has no objection if China wants to buy oil from Iran.
“Iran showed bravery in its war with Israel. They trade oil. If I wanted, I could stop it, but I don’t want to. If China wants to buy oil from Iran, it’s not a problem for us,” Trump remarked.
Trump also confirmed that negotiations between Iran and the United States are scheduled for next week.
In addition, President Trump hailed NATO’s decision to increase defense spending by five percent as a major victory. According to Trump, continuous pressure from the US over the past month led NATO leaders to agree to raise security spending by five percent, starting from 2046.
