JANAKPUR: The Ministry of Home, Communications, and Law of Madhesh Province has initiated a program aimed at making Janakpurdham a cleaner, safer, and well-organized city.
On Friday, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister Fakira Mahato, with the participation of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Manoj Kumar Sah, Chief District Officer, and heads of security agencies. The discussion focused on sanitation, traffic management, and strengthening security at religious sites and provincial buildings.
According to Ministry spokesperson Radheshankar Prasad Pal, key decisions made during the meeting include launching a coordinated cleanliness campaign with all agencies, consulting with Janaki Mahant and Guthi management officials for proper waste management at Janaki Temple, and assigning designated dumping sites to the sub-metropolitan office.
For traffic management, the meeting agreed to designate parking areas, establish no-parking zones in crowded areas, and provide support to traffic police. Measures such as regulating e-rickshaws, implementing a one-way system from Ramanand Chowk to Janak Chowk, and restricting vehicle access in main market and Pethiya Bazaar from 8 AM to 8 PM were also decided in coordination with the District Administration Office, Dhanusha.
On security, the ministry will arrange installation and maintenance of CCTV cameras at key temples and sensitive locations, and propose budgets for painting, cleaning, and beautification. For provincial buildings, the recommendations of the Madhesh Building Security Study Committee, formed by the Provincial Security Committee, will be implemented.
The initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to urban cleanliness, traffic order, public safety, and the preservation of cultural and religious sites in Janakpurdham.
